How to Pick your Wedding Date

When it comes to picking your wedding date, the big thing that most people will tell you is to find the date that works for the venue(s) you want. BUT-there is lots more to consider!

If you’re picking a date because of the numbers falling in a fun pattern (10/10/2020 is extremely popular for this year!) consider that these dates are likely to be popular with other couples as well. Even if your dream venue is available you’ll need to think about: will your other dream vendors be? Will your guests be stuck having to choose between multiple loved ones’ weddings to attend? You may find yourself challenged when it comes to rehearsal dinner options and hotel blocks, as well.

If you choose to have your wedding on a holiday (Christmas, New Year’s, even a long holiday weekend such as Labor Day) you need to be prepared that some people may not be able to attend due to the multiple conflicts/vacations that can come up-which, if you’re aiming for a smaller wedding, may be what you intended anyway! But, some vendors also may take certain holidays off to be with their families or may even charge extra for working that day.

Other things to consider for your wedding date are when your anniversary will fall on later years. Will you end up sharing your anniversary with a holiday (mine sometimes lands on Father’s Day!), is it close to your birthday, etc.? Weigh whether these things are something you’re ok with or even if it’s something you may enjoy! You will be celebrating your wedding on more than just your wedding day, you get to celebrate it every year for the rest of your lives: so look forward to your happy married future when making these decisions!
