They are pretty much single-handedly responsible for capturing all the memories of your big day and will provide the images that you look back on for the rest of your lives together-the pictures you hang on the wall or put into an album to show your children. • What’s your preferred photography style? Do you like moody and a little darker, or bright and airy, or colors that are more true to life? • What all is included in the photographer’s packages? Is it important to have the printing rights? Do you want extras included such as prints, albums, engagement sessions, a 2nd shooter, etc.? And, obviously, weigh in the investment and if the price is something that is do-able for you.

• Do they have experience photographing the sort of venue/lighting situation your wedding will have? If the photographer only works with natural light and your ceremony is in a gothic cathedral and your reception is in an art gallery without many windows—that photographer may not be the right pick for you.

• Finally the X factor-do you vibe, is there a connection? You want to like them and feel comfortable–best yet, you want to feel like they’re a friend and be super excited and confident about them working on you day. You should have no doubts that this is the photographer who can encapsulate all the beautiful moments and memories from you wedding.
