hello hello!
Okay its no surprise- i’m not a fan of “Tradition” on wedding days so I feel very passionate about this topic.
Let’s start off with a little History on how the tradition of waiting to see each other started. it all started when arranged marriages were the norm. Marriages were more of a business deal, than anythings romantic (ouch!) The brides family wanted their daughter to marry rich, but they were afraid the groom wouldn’t find his bride to be attractive, and call off the wedding- hence having them wait to see each other until the alter. like I said, not romantic at all..
Why I LOVE first looks:
Logistically I love having more time for pictures in the beginning of the day. it helps the day run so much more smoothly, and my couples truly can enjoy their day without feeling rushed.
My biggest reason, however, is this: it’s your wedding day, why spend most of the day apart when you can be together? if you’re not getting married until 5:00, that means you’re apart for the majority of your day. imagine doing a first look at 1:30 and being able to share so many important, fun moments together throughout the day..
I feel like there’s so much pressure on the groom/partner at end of the aisle to have this big emotional reaction when the bride/partner is walking down the aisle . I’ve heard “he better cry, or i’m walking back and doing it again” way too many times… don’t put pressure on your partner to have this grand reaction. you’ll both react exactly how you’re supposed to that day.
so what do you think? Team first look?
